Step 1: Consultation

The first step is to arrange a 1-to-1 consultation, preferably face to face, however Skype is also an option. The consultation is free of charge and there are no obligations.

The aim of the meeting is to obtain the running background of the athlete, assess current fitness and discuss future goals.

Step 2: Tailored Plan devise a training plan to match current fitness levels, while tailoring it towards future goals.

The schedule will be a minimum of 3 months. Starting with a general fitness building phase, the periodised plan will gently progress through the training systems. Intensity levels gradually rise and the sessions will become very race pace specific in the final pre-competition phase.

For runners seeking a more precise plan, a lactate test can be arranged. The results of this test will have a large influence on the final plan

Step 3: Implementation

After receiving the schedule, there will be weekly correspondence to assess progress and make any necessary changes.

Step 4: Regular Communication

What is required from you ? Unlike receiving a generic training schedule, view coaching as a two way process, requiring continuous communication. Honest and rational feedback from the athlete is vital. Injuries, illness, work, family & even the weather are all part of the training equation.

The athlete should always advise when general fatigue or elements outside of the athletics arena are interfering. Tweaking the plan along the way is a unique element of this service.
